Warning lamp function test
Warning lamp function test
   
–  witch on the ignition.
The EPC warning lamp should light up.
–  Start the engine and let it idle.
The EPC warning lamp should switch off if no fault in the electronic accelerator has been stored.
–  Die Zündung ausschalten.
The electronic accelerator drive fault lamp does not light up
–  Remove the cover from the fuse box.
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22- to the control unit wiring harness.

–  Bridge female contacts 15 + 30 of the test box with auxiliary leads -V.A.G 1594A- or -V.A.G 1594C-. The EPC warning lamp should light up
If it does not light up:
–  Switch off the ignition.
–  Remove the instrument panel and test the bulb and its voltage → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.90
If no fault is found:
–  Test for open circuits in the wiring between test box female contact 30 and the instrument panel following the wiring diagram: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
If no fault is found in the wiring:
–  Replace the engine control unit: → Rep. Gr.24
The electronic accelerator drive fault lamp stays on constantly

–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/22- to the control unit wiring harness.
–  Test for open circuits in the wiring between test box female contact 30 and the instrument panel following the wiring diagram: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
If no fault is found in the wiring:
–  Replace the engine control unit: → Rep. Gr.24
