Heating rheostat (crankshaft sump breather) -N79-: checking

Theheating Rheostat (crankshaft sump breather ) -N79- has at room temperature a resistance of 3...7 Ω.
t
To ensure the heating resistance is at room temperature, the vehicle should be at approx. 25 °C.
Test sequence
–
Remove the double connector
-Arrow-
and measure the resistance between the pins of the heating resistance.
t
Specification: 3... 3 ... 7 Ω
If the specification is not obtained:
–
Replace the oil deflector with heating resistance.
If the specified value is achieved:
–
Checking power supply
Voltage supply: checking
–
Remove the double connector
-arrow-
and, with the ignition connected, measure the voltage of the removed connector between pins 1 + 2:

Specification: min. 11.5V
If the specification is not obtained:
–
Check the cables with the aid of the electric circuits diagram
→ Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
