Removing and installing exhaust gas recirculation cooler t  Removing → Anchor t  Fitting → Anchor Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Pliers for spring-loaded band-type clamps -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing –  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-. –  Drain coolant → Chapter. –  Remove air cleaner housing → Chapter.

–  Remove crankcase breather hose -2-, press release buttons for this. –  Remove air intake hose. To do this, loosen hose clip -1-.

–  Unscrew the bolt -2- from the front exhaust pipe bracket.   Caution The flexible joints in the front exhaust pipe can be damaged. The flexible joints in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent further than 10°.   Note Disregard item -1-.

–  Loosen bolts -arrows-, push back clamp and detach front exhaust pipe.

–  The exhaust gas temperature sender 4 -G648--Pos. 1-.

–  Detach electrical connectors -3 and 4-, and remove from the bracket.

–  Disconnect electrical connector -3- at pressure differential sender -G505-. –  Unscrew screw -2- and move hoses -1- clear from the bracket. –  Move pressure differential sender -G505- to rear.

–  Remove nuts -arrows- and move particulate filter to rear. –  Move clear electrical wiring harness.

–  Remove bolt and nut -arrows-. –  Release hose clip -3- and detach coolant hose.   Note -Items 1 and 2- can be disregarded.

–  Remove bolts -2- for exhaust gas recirculation pipe.   Note Ignore -item 1-.

–  Remove bolts -1- for exhaust gas recirculation pipe.   Note Ignore -item 2-.

–  Unplug electrical connectors -2, 3, 4- and move electrical wiring clear. –  Detach vacuum hose -1- and move clear.

–  Release hose clip -2- and detach coolant hose. –  Remove bolts -1, 3- and detach exhaust gas recirculation cooler. Installing Reassembly is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: Tightening torque l  → Chapter „Assembly overview - exhaust gas temperature regulation “. l  → Chapter „Coolant lines, coolant temperature senders, coolant circulation pump: Assembly overview“. l  → Chapter „Exhaust system“ l  → Chapter „Assembly overview - exhaust gas temperature regulation “   Note t  Renew seals and O-rings. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. –  Install air hoses with screw-type clips → Fig.. –  Install particulate filter → Chapter. –  Install air cleaner housing → Chapter. –  Fill up with coolant → Chapter.
