Fuel system: Assembly overview
  Caution
The high-pressure pump has very close tolerances and must not be allowed to run without fuel. To prevent this and to enable the engine to start quickly after parts have been renewed, it is important to observe the following:
t  If components of the fuel system between the fuel tank and the high-pressure pump are removed or renewed, the fuel system must be bled → Chapter.
t  If the high-pressure pump is removed or renewed, the first fuel filling operation must be performed before the engine is started for the first time → Chapter
  Note
The high-pressure pump will be damaged if the first fuel filling operation is not performed.
   
1 - Fuel tank
q   With fuel system pressurisation pump -G6-
q   With fuel level indicator sensor -G-
2 - Fuel filter:
q   Assembly overview - fuel filter → Chapter.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
3 - Fuel temperature sensor -G81-
q   Fitting location → Fig.
4 - Fuel metering valve -N290-
q   Do not unfasten
5 - High-pressure pump
q   After the replacement, first fuel „must“be filled (dry running is to be avoided at all costs) → Chapter
q   After renewing high-pressure pump or fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-, learnt values must be re-adapted using → Vehicle diagnostic tester
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
q   Assembly overview → Chapter
6 - Fuel pressure sender -G247-
q   Assembly overview → Chapter
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
7 - High pressure reservoir
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
8 - Fuel pressure regulating valve -N276-
q   Cannot be re-installed
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
q   Assembly overview → Chapter
9 - Check valve of the return run pressure
10 - Injectors
