Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hose clamp -T20167-, see equivalent → Anchor
  W00-2449
t  Spanner -T20126-, see equivalent → Anchor
  Note
t  Before removing, mark the direction of rotation of the Poly-V belt and remember for assembly. If fitted against the direction of rotation the belt will deteriorate.
t  If any faults are observed, the Poly-V belt should be immediately replaced to avoid malfunction.
t  There is no need to readjust the tension of the Poly-V belt, since a spring-driven tension device always guarantees optimum belt tension.
Removing
  W00-2408
–  Detach the outer -1- and inner -2- engine covers, by pulling them evenly upwards.
–  Mark running direction of poly V-belt.
Vehicles without air conditioning
  E01-10018
–  Push the tensioning element in the direction of the -arrow- to release the Poly-V ribbed belt.
  E13-0170
–  Lock tensioner with retention tool -T20167-.
–  Remove the ribbed belt.
Vehicles with air conditioning
  E13-0212
–  Rotate the tensioning element with the spanner -T20126- and lock it with the retention tool -T20167-.
–  Remove the ribbed belt.
Fitting
Install in the reverse order from removal, remembering the following:
  Note
t  Ensure, before installing Poly-V belt, that all ancillaries (alternator, air conditioning compressor) are secured tightly.
t  When fitting the Poly-V belt check belt rotation direction and that the belt is seated correctly in the belt pulleys.
t  For those vehicles not fitted with air conditioning, fit the Poly-V belt lastly on the alternator.
t  For vehicles with air conditioning, put Poly-V belt over air conditioning compressor last.
–  Start engine and check that belt runs properly.
