Removing and installing Poly-V belt

Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clamp -T10060A-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
–  Fit the centre noise insulation -fasteners 1 ... 3-.

–  Fit the right noise insulation -fastening parts 1 ... 3-.
  Note
Before removing the ribbed belt, mark its running direction with chalk or with a felt tipped pen. Running a used belt in the opposite direction could destroy it.

–  To slacken off poly V-belt, swivel belt tensioner in -direction of arrow-.

–  Place the holes -arrows- above each other and lock the clamping element using the retention tool -T10060A-.
–  Take off poly V-belt.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order, noting the following:

t  Before fitting the Poly-V belt ensure that all sub-assemblies (alternator and air conditioning compressor) are tight.
t  When fitting the ribbed belt, ensure that it is fitted with the correct direction of rotation and that it is correctly seated on the pulleys.
t  For those vehicles not fitted with air conditioning, fit the Poly-V belt lastly on the alternator.
t  For those vehicles fitted with air conditioning, fit the ribbed belt lastly on the compressor for the air conditioning.

–  Place the Poly-V belt onto the crankshaft pulley.

–  Support the clamping element using an annular wrench and remove the retention tool -T10060A-.
–  Slacken tensioner.
–  Check Poly-V belt is correctly positioned.
–  Start the engine and check that the Poly V-belt rotates correctly.
