Removing and installing air mass meterG70
Removing and installing air mass meter -G70-

Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Base -VAS 6499-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
–  Remove the engine cover upwards -arrows-.
  E10-10085
–  Separate the plug connection of the air mass gauge -G70--1- and the underpressure line-3-.
–  Open the hose clamp -2- and remove the hose to the exhaust gas turbocharger and lay to the side.
  Note
Disregard item -4-.

–  Unscrew the two bolts -arrow- and remove theair mass gauge -G70- from the guide in the air filter housing by carefully pulling on it.
Installing
l  Tightening torque → Chapter
To ensure the proper function of the air mass meter -G70- it is important to adhere to the following work sequences.
  Note
t  If the air filter element is very dirty or wet, particles of dirt or water may reach the air mass meter and falsify the measured air mass value. This would lead to loss of power, since a smaller injection quantity is calculated.
t  Always use a genuine spare part air filter element.
t  Always renew seal if damaged (infiltrating air).
t  Use a silicone-free lubricant when installing the air hose and seal.
t  Hose connections and air pipes and hoses must be free from oil and grease before fitting.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue.
–  Check for salt residue, dirt and leaves in air mass meter and air intake hose (engine intake side).
–  Check for dirt in air duct leading to air filter element. If contamination is found, remove salt residues, dirt and leaves from top and bottom part of air filter housing by rinsing out or using a vacuum cleaner if necessary.
–  Removing and installing air cleaner → Chapter.
Perform remaining installation in reverse order of removal.
