Fuel low pressure line: Check
Fuel low pressure line: Check
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pressure gauge -VAG 1318-, please see equivalent → Anchor
Test conditions:
l  Battery voltage at least 12.5 V
l  Fuel filter, okay.
l  Fuel tank, filled at least half full.
l  Ignition switched off.

Checking holding pressure
–  Remove the engine cover upwards -arrows-.
  WARNING
t  When carrying out work on the fuel system, always observe the guidelines for cleanliness and the instructions → Chapter.
t  Follow these instructions and rules for cleanliness before starting work and while working on the fuel system.
t  Wrap a clean cloth around the connection before opening the fuel system, then carefully loosen the connection to release the pressure.

–  Remove fuel supply line -arrow- from high-pressure pump; release hose clip for this.

–  Connect K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- with adapter -2- to fuel supply line -1-.
–  Connect second hose -3- to -V.A.G 1318- at open connection of high-pressure pump as shown in following illustration.

  A23-10324
The K-Jetronic pressure tester -V.A.G 1318- must be inserted as an intermediate element into the fuel supply line.
–  Connect the central diagnosis -VAS 505X-.
–  Switch on ignition.
–  Select „Engine electronics“ in vehicle self-diagnosis.
–  Then select „Basic setting“.
–  Select „Group 35 Checking of fuel system pressurisation pump“ from the list.
–  Run fuel pumps until highest fuel pressure has built up.
l  Specification: minimum 3.5 bar
If the specification is not attained:
t  Threaded connection between pressure gauge and fuel line leaking.
t  Pressure gauge leaking.
t  Fuel lines and their connections leaking.
t  Fuel filter is blocked.
–  Check delivery rate of fuel pump → Chapter.
  Note
Check the entire fuel system for leaks.
