Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Socket wrench insert -T40055-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Torque wrench (5 - 50 Nm) -V.A.G 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Ratchet -V.A.G 1331/1-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Insert e/c 17 terminal -V.A.G 1331/6-, see equivalent → Anchor

Operation process
  Caution
Release rail and clamping pieces to easily fit injection lines tension-free. If necessary, shift rail slightly and turn relevant injector slightly if required. The lines must never be bent or tensioned. Tension would otherwise cause the respective line to break in the long-term.
  Note
t  Then the procedure is described for mounting the new injector lines. The following aspects must be observed when re-using used injector lines:
t  In case of reuse of the high pressure lines the cylinder specific code must be taken into consideration.
t  The high-pressure lines can principally be reuse according to the following test:
t  Check taper seat of respective high-pressure line for deformation and cracks.
t  The bore of the pipe must not be distorted, restricted or otherwise damaged.
t  Corroded lines should no longer be used.
–  If it has not been done yet, loosen securing bolts of fuel rail and ensure that fuel rail can be moved.
–  If it has not been done yet, loosen securing bolts of clamping pieces and ensure that injectors can be rotated.
–  Use vacuum cleaner to remove dirt from taper seat at rail.
–  Clean fuel pipe and end of pipe using cleaning solution and dry with compressed air.
–  Moisten union nut thread with fuel.
–  Remove the new injection lines from the packaging. Remove the sealing plugs and install the line just by itself.
–  Initially hand-tighten high-pressure line union nuts „fully“ on high-pressure pump without tools.
–  Ensure that line is inserted correctly into seat.
–  If necessary, proceed in the same way with other injection lines.
   
–  Use socket -T40055- to tighten all components in the specified sequence → Anchor.
–  Carefully press the connections of the return lines into the injector (first check that the sealing ring is not damaged). You should hear them click into place. Then press the release pin downwards carefully.
–  Filling fuel system → Chapter.
