1 - Oil dipstick
q   Oil level must not be above max. mark on dipstick!
q   Marks → Fig.
2 - Oil cooler
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
3 - O ring
q   replace
4 - Coolant pipe
q   For oil radiator
q   Tightening torque of the bracket on the crankshaft sump: 20 Nm
5 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 8 Nm
6 - Sealing cap
q   Replace gasket if it shows signs of damage.
7 - Oil seal
q   Replace if damaged
8 - Oil filter
q   Tightening torque: 20 Nm
q   Use the oil filter wrench -3417- to unfasten
q   Observe the installation instructions printed on the filter
q   With non-return valve
9 - Distribution housing
q   Fit with an additional silicon sealant -D 176 501 A1-
q   Distribution housing: removing and fitting → Chapter
q   When installing, screw in two studs -M6x80- into camshaft housing and cylinder block to help with centring.
q   Fix the oil sump with two bolts to ease the fitting of the distribution casing.
10 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 10 Nm
11 - Bolt
q   Torque setting 150 Nm + 180°
q   replace
q   Removing and installing crankshaft pulley → Chapter
q   The contact surfaces of the fastening screws may not contain any oil or grease residue.
q   Apply oil prior to installation (thread)
q   Secure the poly-V belt with the retaining tool -3415- against twisting
q   The retightening angle can be measured with a standard protractor
12 - Pulley
q   The contact surfaces of the pulley must be free of oil and grease.
q   Poly-V belt: removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Secure the poly-V belt with the retaining tool -3415- against twisting
13 - Oil seal
q   replace
14 - Bush
q   The contact surfaces of the sleeve must be free of oil and grease.
15 - Seal
q   Replace if damaged
16 - Pinions
q   For drive chain for oil pump and camshaft timing chain
q   Inserted in the crankshaft
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Contact surfaces must be free of oil or grease
17 - Bolt
q   Torque setting 20 Nm + 90°
q   replace
18 - Chain sprocket for the oil pump
q   Sprocket can only be fitted on oil pump shaft in one position.
q   Immobilise using the retention tool -T10172-.
19 - Drive chain for oil pump
q   For oil pump
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Check for wear
q   Mark D.O.R. before dismounting (installation position)
20 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 10 Nm
21 - Oil level/oil temperature sender -G266-
q   Replace if damaged
q   Checking: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
22 - Oil drain plug
q   Tightening torque: 30 Nm
q   With safety washer
q   replace
23 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 13 Nm
q   replace
q   Loosen and fasten the bolts only on the side of the flywheel using the socket -T10058-.
24 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 40 Nm
25 - Oil pan
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Clean sealing surface before installing
q   Fit with silicon-based sealant → Parts Catalogue
26 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 25 Nm
27 - Oil pump:
q   removing and fitting → Chapter
q   Always replace completely
28 - Bolt
q   Tightening torque: 5 Nm
29 - Baffle plate
