Oil pressure and oil pressure switch: checking Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Oil pressure tester -VAG 1342- with adapter -V.A.G 1342/14-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Voltage tester -VAG 1527B-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Auxiliary cable kit -VAG 1594C-, see equivalent → Anchor

Test prerequisites l  Oil level OK l  Engine oil temperature: approx. 90° (the cooler fan must have run once) Checking sequence

–  Release quick fasteners -arrows- and remove engine cover panel.

–  Unbolt coolant expansion tank -arrow-. –  Unplug electrical wire for coolant shortage indicator switch -F66- at bottom of expansion tank and move expansion tank to one side with coolant hoses -1- and -2- attached.

–  Unplug electrical connector at oil pressure switch -F1-. –  Unscrew oil pressure switch -F1--arrow-.

–  Connect oil pressure tester -V.A.G 1342- with adapter -V.A.G 1342/14- to bore for oil pressure switch. –  Fit oil pressure switch -2- in the oil pressure tester -V.A.G 1342-. –  Connect brown wire of oil pressure tester to earth („–“). Checking oil pressure switch –  Attach the voltage meter -V.A.G 1527 B--Item 1- into the oil pressure switch and connect the plus pole of the battery („+“); Use the auxiliary cable of the auxiliary measurement set -V.A.G 1594 C- for this purpose. l  LED should not light up. If the LED lights up: –  Renew oil pressure switch. –  Start engine.   Note The switching point of the oil pressure switch can be reached when the engine is cranked on the starter motor, so watch the tester and the test lamp while starting the engine. l  LED should light up at 1.2…1.6 bar. If the LED does not light up: –  Renew oil pressure switch. Checking oil pressure –  Start engine. l  Minimum oil pressure at 2,000 rpm at least min. 1.3 bar l  Minimum oil pressure at 3500 rpm: min. 3.5 - 4.5 bar. If results do not match specifications: pressure relief valve or oil pump defective. Assembling Assembly is carried out in the reverse order to removal; note the following:   Note Renew seal when installing oil pressure switch. Tightening torque
