  Note
t  Mechanical air recirculation valve is located upstream of turbocharger. It is opened by vacuum from the air recirculation valve for turbocharger -N249- when the engine is on overrun or under part load or when idling. This dissipates the charge pressure upstream of the throttle valve and maintains a higher turbocharger speed.
t  Check air recirculation valve in the event of loss of power or load change jolts.
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213-, see equivalent → Anchor
Checking sequence
–  Connect the manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to the vacuum connection of the recirculation valve.

–  Move ring -1- on hand vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to position -B- to select „pressure“.
–  Operate hand vacuum pump.
l  The recirculation valve should open.
–  Trigger the venting valve of the vacuum pump after approx. 30 seconds.
l  The recirculation valve should close.
If air recirculation valve does not open/close or if valve plate does not provide a tight closure when air recirculation valve is closed:
–  Renew air recirculation valve and secure hose connections with hose clips.
