Camshaft oil seals: replacing
Camshaft oil seals: replacing
Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
   
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Pliers -T10015-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Hose clamp -T10016-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Extractor kit -T20143-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Tightening torque -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removal:
–  First remove the two notched belts → Chapter.
   
–  Turn crankshaft back slightly.
  Note
The camshaft wheels must be secured by the two immobilising pieces of the camshaft fastener -T10016- until the limit of the adjustment holes on the camshaft housing.
–  Remove the camshaft wheels. To loosen bolts, hold the camshaft sprockets using the fastener -T10016-.

–  Insert the extractor -T20143- and extract the seal.
Fitting .
–  Lubricate lightly the lip of the seal.

–  Push the -T10015/2- guide sleeve onto camshaft journal.
–  Push sealing ring onto guide sleeve.
–  Press the oil seal in, onto the stop with press sleeve -T10015/1- and the bolt -T10015/3-.
–  Fit camshaft sprockets.
  Note
Note the position of the sprockets with respect to the pins in the camshafts.
–  Lock the respective sprocket with the counterhold -T10016- and tighten the new bolts to a torque of 20 Nm. Retighten the bolt 1/4 turn (90º)
Fitting the timing belt → Chapter.
Continue installation following reverse order for removing.
