1 - Plug
q   Replace if damaged
2 - Securing bolt
3 - Earth connection
q   Check for secure seating.
q   installation position → Fig.
4 - 10 Nm
5 - Cableguide
6 - Fuel tank
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
7 - 25 Nm
q   Replace.
8 - Lock washer
9 - tension belt
q   Note fitting position:
10 - Protector plate
11 - Fuel filter:
q   The arrow indicates the flow direction
q   Hose positioning → Fig.
12 - Supply pipe
q   Leads to the fuel distributor
q   Check for secure seating.
13 - Vent pipe
q   Clipped onto side of fuel tank
q   Check for secure seating.
14 - Oil seal
q   Replace if damaged
q   When fitting, fit seal (dry) in opening in fuel tank
q   Moisten with fuel only when installing flange
15 - Fuel delivery unit
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
q   If the fuel delivery unit has been replaced, the engine control unit must be adapted to the fuel pump → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051“Guided function”.
q   Fuel pump: Checking → Chapter
q   Note fitting position on fuel tank → Fig.
q   With fuel level indicator sender -G-
q   Removing and fitting the Fuel level indicator sender -G- → Chapter
q   Clean strainer if dirty
16 - Seal ring 110 Nm
q   Check for secure seating.
q   Remove and install with wrench -T10202- .
17 - Supply pipe
q   Black colour
q   Clipped onto side of fuel tank
q   Check for secure seating.
18 - Return pipe
q   Blue colour
q   Clipped onto side of fuel tank
q   Check for secure seating.
19 - Filler cap set
q   With dustguard
q   Removing and installing → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. Gr.55

   
Position of earth connection
–  Route earth connection as shown in illustrations.
–  First hook in the earth connection contact tab -4- into the attachment hole -3- and then insert the distancer -5-.
–  Ensure that plug connector -1- for earth connection is properly seated on metal ring -2- on fuel filler neck.

Fitting position of fuel delivery unit flange
The mark -3- on the gauge is opposite to flow.
Fuel return pipe blue or blue mark -1-
Fuel supply pipe black -2-

Fuel filter hoses positioning
-1- Vacuum tubing (white).
-2- Fuel distributor vacuum hose (black).
-3- Fuel supply hose, fuel filter capacity (black).
-4- Return hose (blue).
