Adjust the pressure capsule for the exhaust gas turbocharger (engine code BWA)
Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Pressure regulating valve -VAS 6342-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Gauge set -VAS 6341-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Vacuum pump -VAS 6213-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Turbocharger tester -VAG 1397A-, see equivalent → Anchor
t  Adjustment tool -VW 387-, please see Correspondence → Anchor

  Note
t  The following procedures serve for adjusting the pressure capsule. Other values may be present when checking a pressure element already adjusted.
t  The pressure capsule must only be adjusted if the rod was removed.
t  The adjustment must be carried out with the turbocharger disassembled.
Perform the following work:

–  Detach the hose -arrow- of the pressure capsule from the turbocharger.
–  Remove the clip located at the top of the turbocharger rod.
  A21-10121
–  Loosen lock nut -2-.
  A21-10124
–  Pre-adjust the bypass plate -1- with the pressure capsule rod -arrow-, ensuring that it is still possible to turn the bypass plate by hand.
–  Tighten the locknut by hand.
  A21-10122
–  Connect the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- and the turbocharger tester -VAG 1397A- to the connection II and on the pressure regulating valve -VAS 6342- as shown.
–  Close the pressure control valve -VAS 6342- at lever -1-.
  A21-10120
–  Move the ring -1- of the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- to position -B- for „pressure“.
–  Activate the turbocharger tester -VAG 1397A- and move the sliding switch to position II.
  N24-10282
–  Fix the adjustment tool -VW 387- to the exhaust gas turbocharger -arrow-.
–  Fix the gauge -VAS 6341/1- with the 30 mm extension -VAS 6341/3- and the flat pushbutton -VAS 6341/4- to the adjustment tool -VW 387-.
–  Set the dial gauge -VAS 6341/1- to a pretension of 1 mm with a pressure of 0 bar.
–  Position the indicator of the dial gauge -VAS 6341/1- at 0.
–  Check gently whether the dial gauge operates.
–  Operate the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- until turbocharger tester -VAG 1397A- indicates 350 +/- 5 mbar.
–  The dial gauge must display between 4.1 and 4.3 mm. If not, turn the pressure capsule rod until the specified value is displayed.
–  Tighten lock nut hand-tight.
–  Repeat measurement procedure.
  Note
The figures in mm refer to the value checked (including pre-tension of 1 mm).
–  Lower the pressure to 0 mbar with the pressure regulating valve -VAS 6342-.
–  Set the dial gauge -VAS 6341/1- to 0.
  Note
The subsequent measurements must be carried out in order. The pressure must not drop to 0 during these operations.
–  Operate the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- until turbocharger tester -VAG 1397A- indicates 350 +/- 5 mbar.
–  Note down the value displayed by the dial gauge -VAS 6341/1-.
–  Operate the vacuum pump -VAS 6213- until turbocharger tester -VAG 1397A- indicates between 650 and 700 mbar.
–  Lower the pressure to 350 +/- 5 mbar with the pressure regulating valve -VAS 6342-.
–  Read off and note value indicated on dial gauge -VAS 6341/1-.
–  Add the values 1 and 2, and divide the result by 2.
–  The result (average value) must be 5 +/- 0.25 mm.
–  If the result (average value) is not 5 +/- 0.25 mm, correct the adjustment, tighten the locknut by hand and repeat the measurement.
–  If the result (average value) is 5 +/- 0.25 mm, tighten the locknut to 9 Nm and secure it with sealing paint.
  A21-10123
–  Fit the protection plate -1- on the turbocharger rod.
