Allocation of the crankshaft bearing shells (classification)
Allocation of the crankshaft bearing shells (classification)
The bearing shells are assigned with the appropriate thickness for the cylinder block at the factory. Coloured points are used to identify the thickness of the bearing shells.
The position of which bearing shell that should be inserted into which cylinder block is marked with identification letters on the lower sealing surface or face side of the cylinder block.
The position of which bearing shell that should be inserted into which bearing cover is marked with identification letters on the crankshaft (bottom bearing shell).
The first letter is for bearing cover 1, the second for bearing cover 2, etc.
   
cylinder block:
The identification letter on the cylinder block can be stamped in the sealing surface of the oil sump or on the face side (gearbox side) of the cylinder block.

The identification letters on the cylinder block apply for the top bearing shell (bearing shell for the cylinder block).
–  Note the letters and using the table, determine the colour of the bearing shell that must be fitted,

Crankshaft:
The identification letters on the cylinder block apply for the bottom bearing shell (bearing shell for the bearing cover).
