t  Electric drill with plastic brush attachment
t  Protective glasses
t  Sealant for joints → Spare parts catalogue
Removing
l  Gearbox removed.
–  Remove the dual mass flywheel → Chapter.
   
–  Detach intermediate plate at sealing flange and dowel sleeves -arrows-.

–  Unscrew bolts -1 to 8-.
–  Remove rear sealing flange.
Fitting
l  Tightening torques → Chapter
t  Silicone sealant → Spare parts catalogue
  Note
t  Note expiry date of silicone sealant.
t  The cover must be installed within 5 minutes of applying the silicone sealant.
–  Remove sealant remaining on cylinder block with flat scraper.
  WARNING
Wear eye protection.

–  Remove sealant residue on sealing flange using rotating plastic brush or similar.
–  Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease.

–  Cut off the tube nozzle on the front marking (diameter of the nozzle approximately. 2 mm).

–  Apply a line of silicon sealant, as shown in the figure, to the clean surface of the frame seal.
t  Thickness of the sealant grub: 2 to 3 mm.
  Note
t  The sealing flange must be installed within 5 minutes of applying silicone sealant.
t  The bead of sealant must not be thicker than specified, otherwise excess sealant can enter the sump and obstruct the strainer in the oil intake pipe.
–  Fit the sealing flange immediately and tighten bolts in the sequence → Fig.
  Note
After fitting the sealing flange, the sealant must be left to dry for 30 minutes. Only then should the engine be refilled with oil.
The remaining installation steps are carried out in the reverse sequence. Note the following:
