Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213-, see equivalency → Anchor

t  Adapter -VAG 1318/17A-, see equivalent → Anchor
Test condition
l  Ignition must be switched off.

Checking sequence
–  Remove the ventilation pipe -1-. To do so, press the release tabs.
–  Then connect the manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213- using the adaptor set -VAG 1318/17- to the line which goes to the activated carbon system.
–  Operate the manual vacuum pump -VAS 6213- a few times. Vacuum must not build up.
If a vacuum builds up:
–  Check if the ventilation hose of the → Itemactivated carbon filter is dirty and clean it, if necessary.
If a vacuum does not build up:
–  Temporarily seal ventilation → Itemhose and operate vacuum pump again several times. A vacuum must build up.
If a vacuum does not build up:
–  Renew active carbon filter.
