Oil pump: removing and installing
  Caution
The oil supply line must be renewed on the turbocharger if a new oil pump or oil suction pipe is fitted.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Counterhold tool -T10172-
Removal:
–  Remove sump → Chapter.
  W00-1386
–  Pull cover -1- off chain sprocket for oil pump.
–  Hold oil pump chain sprocket with counterhold -T10172-.

–  Loosen chain sprocket securing bolt.
  Note
Do not remove bolt completely.

–  Press chain tensioner in direction of -arrow- with a screwdriver.
–  Remove chain sprocket securing bolt.
–  Take chain sprocket off oil pump and out of chain.

–  Loosen oil pump securing bolts -arrows- and remove them.
–  Remove oil pump from cylinder block.
Installation
  Caution
The oil supply line must be renewed on the turbocharger if a new oil pump or oil suction pipe is fitted.
–  Install the oil pump and tighten the screws to 14 Nm + 1/4 turns (90°).
Oil suction pipe tightening torque: 9 Nm
  N17-10021
–  Press chain tensioner in direction of -arrow- with a screwdriver.
–  Seat chain sprocket in chain and fit chain sprocket onto oil pump shaft.

–  Observe installation position of chain sprocket on oil pump shaft -arrow-.
–  Fit chain sprocket securing bolt.
–  Hold chain sprocket with counterhold -T10172-.
  N17-10020
–  Position torque wrench -V.A.G 1331- as shown.
–  Tighten the fixing screw with 20 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°).

–  Install cover -1-.
–  Fit the oil sump → Chapter.
