  WARNING
Fuel system is under pressure! Wear safety goggles and appropriate clothing to avoid injury and contact with skin. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then eliminate the pressure by carefully separating the pipe.
Test requirements
l  Fuel pressure must be correct, check: → Chapter
   
–  Pull off connectors -arrows- from all the injectors.
–  Unclip the cable harness from the injectors.
–  Remove the fuel rail from the intake manifold.
–  Remove the fuel rail together with the injectors from the intake manifold. (The fuel pipes remain connected).
–  Remove cover from fuse holder.

–  Remove fuse F34 for the fuel pump in the fuse holder. Fuse allocation → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
–  Connect remote control -VAG 1348/3A- with adapter cable -SAT 1348/3-3- to lower contact to fuel pump and battery positive (+).
  Note
The following operation is to make the fuel pump run when the engine is stopped.
–  Place a small recipient below the injector to be checked.
–  Operate the remote control -VAG 1348/3A- for one minute
–  Checking injectors for leakage (visual check). Only 1 to 2 drops per minute may emit from each valve when fuel pump is running.
If the fuel loss is greater:
–  Replace the defective injector → Chapter.
  Note
Always renew seals.
