Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Counterhold tool -T10355-
Removing:
Proceed as follows:
–  Remove noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.50
–  Remove right wheel housing liner → Bodywork, exterior fitting work; Rep. gr.66.

Vehicles with auxiliary heater:
–  Slacken clip -1- and remove bolt -2-.
–  Detach exhaust silencer for auxiliary heater.

All:
–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Remove air pipe (lift clips -item 1 and 2-).
–  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter.

–  Turn vibration damper to „TDC“ position -arrow- using counterhold tool -T10355-.
l  Notch on vibration damper must align with arrow marking on cover for timing chains (bottom).
–  Remove bolt for vibration damper using counterhold tool -T10355-.
  Caution
Risk of damage to the engine!
To avoid disturbing valve timing, do not turn crankshaft out of „TDC“ position when vibration damper is removed.

Installing:
l  Tightening torque → Chapter
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; noting the following in the process:
  Note
t  Renew bolt for vibration damper.
t  Fit new O-ring -1-.
–  Lubricate sealing lip of oil seal with engine oil.
–  Fit vibration damper (pay attention to shape of tooth -arrow-).
