Exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235-: removing and fitting

t  Restrainer 3/8' to 1/4' -SAT 1006/36-
t  Torque wrench kit -SAT 8010-, see equivalent → Anchor

Removing
–  Detach the outer -1- and inner -2- engine covers, by pulling them evenly upwards.

–  Uncouple the electrical connector -3- for the exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235- and free the electrical wiring.

–  Remove centre noise insulation -mounting parts 1 ... 3-.

t  Position of the exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235--1-.
t  Ignore the -arrows-.
–  Remove the exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235--1- from the exhaust manifold from underneath using a 17 mm wrench.
–  Take the pipe out of the bracket and remove the exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235-.
Fitting
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:

t  Place threadlock for hot screws on the thread of the exhaust gas temperature sender; threadlock for hot screws → Spares catalogue.
t  Fit the cable clamps in the same position as they were.
t  When tightening to the tightening torque of the exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235-, take care not to damage the exhaust gas temperature sender 2 -G448-.

t  When fitting the exhaust gas temperature sender with angled rod, in all cases, the dimension -a- from 3 ... 5 mm must be maintained for the screw connection of the support of the turbocharger bracket.

–  Insert the exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235- with the tightening torque. For this purpose, place the torque wrench on from the top with the ratchet 1/2' x 9-12 Ref.(735/10) -VAG 1331/1-, the retainer 3/8' to 1/4' -SAT 1006/36- and the 17 mm wrench -T10395/5-.
–  Insert the pipe in the bracket and attach the connector.
