Fault reader -V.A.G 1551- connect and select the electronic engine control

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Fault reader -V.A.G 1551-

t	-V.A.G 1551/3B- cable

Note!

The equipment -V.A.G 1552- may be used instead of the -V.A.G 1551-, however in this case the results cannot be printed.

Test conditions

l	Correct battery voltage

l	Correct fuse 15

l	Mass connections to the engine and the gearbox, correct

Verification process

–	Remove the shelf from the driver side of the vehicle.

–	Connect the -V.A.G 1551- (or -V.A.G 1552-) equipment using the cable -V.A.G 1551/3B-.

Once the equipment is connected. Depending on the required function:

–	Turn the ignition on and start the engine → .

Note!

t	If the display indications that normally accompany the operation sequence are not displayed: → User instructions for the fault reader.

t	If, due to a keyboard error, the message “Transmission data error” is displayed, disconnect the fault reader cable and reconnect it and repeat the operation sequence.

1 - Rapid data transmission*

–	Operate the fault reader taking into account the message displayed on the screen:

–	Press key 1 for “Rapid date transmission”.

–	Press the keys 4 and 1 for the address code “Diesel pump electronics” and confirm using the key Q.

2 - Intermittent code emission*

The identity of the control unit will be displayed on the screen of the -V.A.G 1551-, for example:

t	028906124 = Reference number of the control unit (refer to the spare parts manual to see the up to date version)

t	Saugdiesel (diesel suction)∼(atmospheric diesel) = engine version

t	V01 = control unit software version

t	Code 00124, control unit for engine with air conditioning

t	Code 00127, control unit for engine without air conditioning

t	WSC XXXXX = -V.A.G 1551- equipment workshop where the last coding was carried out. (While the original coding has not been modified, WSC 00000 appears)

–	Press the key →.
