t  Fault reader -V.A.G 1551- with cable -V.A.G 1551/3B-
Sequence of operations
–  In the first place, print the identification of the control unit and, using this, the code of the previous control unit, proceeding as follows:
–  Connect the -V.A.G 1551- (-V.A.G. 1552-) and, using the corresponding “direction code” 01, select the control unit for the engine electronics. (Fault reader: Turn on and select the control unit for engine electronics → Chapter).
   
The display of the -V.A.G 1551- fault reader shows the coding of the control unit, for example:
–  Print the identification of the control unit by pressing Print on the fault reader.
–  Press →.

Indication on the display:
–  Press the keys 0 and 6 for the function “End data transmission” and confirm with Q.
–  Turn off the ignition.
–  Release the connectors from the control unit and extract.

Select the function XX
–  Carefully lever out the fixing step with a screwdriver -arrow-.
–  Remove the control unit from the support frame -arrow-.
–  Put the new control unit in the support frame and fix the step in its initial position.
–  Check the previous coding and code the new control unit → Chapter.
–  Adapt the engine control unit to the electronic immobiliser → Chapter.
–  To finish, consult the fault memory of the new control unit and, if necessary, clear the fault memory.
