t  -V.A.G 1551- fault reader (or -V.A.G 1552- vehicle system checking) with -V.A.G 1551/3B- cable
  Note!
All of the functions carried out up to now with the -V.A.G 1551/1552- units may also be carried out with the new -VAS 5051- unit.
Sequence of operations
–  Connect the -V.A.G 1551- unit (-V.A.G 1552-) and, using the corresponding “direction code” 01, select the control unit for engine electronics. When doing this, the engine must be idling. (Fault reader: Turn on and select the control unit for engine electronics → Chapter)
Only if the engine should fail to start:
–  Turn on the ignition.
–  Start the fault reader printer by pressing Print. The keyboard warning light should come on.
   
Indication on the display:
–  Run the fault reader bearing in mind the indication on the display
–  Press keys 0 and 2 for the function “Consult fault memory” and confirm with Q.

Select function XX                      
The display shows the amount of faults memorised or “No fault detected”.
If there is one or several faults memorised
The memorised faults will be shown and printed one after the other.
 
X faults detected                       
As soon as the memorised faults are printed, the display will show:
–  Eliminate the faults given using the fault table → Chapter.
–  Clear the fault memory → Chapter.
If there is no fault memorised
–  Press .

Indication on the display:
–  Press the keys 0 and 6 for the function “End data transmission” and confirm with Q.
–  Turn off the ignition.
