Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  -V.A.G 1551- fault reader or -V.A.G 1552- vehicle system checker with -V.A.G 1551/3B- cable
Checking condition
l  Fault eliminated.
  Note!
After eliminating the fault, the fault memory must be checked again and cleared as follows:
Sequence of operations
–  Connect the -V.A.G 1551- unit (-V.A.G 1552-) and, using the corresponding “direction code” 01, select the control unit for engine electronics. When doing this, the engine must be idling. (Fault reader: Turn on and select the control unit for engine electronics → Chapter).
   
Indication on the display:
–  Press keys 0 and 2 for the function “Consult fault memory” and confirm with Q.

–  Press key until all the faults previously memorised have been eliminated and the display shows again.
–  Press keys 0 and 5 for the function “Clear fault memory” and confirm with Q.

Indication on the display:
–  If the fault memory fails to clear, it means there is still a fault that has to be eliminated.
–  Press .
 
Fast data transmission                ->
The fault memory has been cleared       
Indication on the display:
–  Press the keys 0 and 6 for the function “End data transmission” and confirm with Q.
–  Make another test run and consult the fault memory once more. No fault should show.
