Fault table, fault indexes 00668...65280
t  The fault table is ordered according to the 5 digit fault indexes appearing on the left.
t  Explanations on the types of fault (e.g.: “Interruption/short circuit to ground”) → Instructions of use of fault reader.
t  If faulty components are indicated: First check the cables and connectors to the components, and the system ground cables, against the current circuit diagram. This is particularly valid when the faults are indicated as “sporadic” (SP).
t  After eliminating existing faults, the fault memory must be cleared.
Message given by the -V.A.G 1551- printer, for instance:
16502 P0118 035
Coolant temperature transmitter -G62-
Very high signal
Sporadic fault
Explanation
t  16502 = fault index
t  P0118 = supplementary index (currently only for USA)
t  035 = number representing the type of fault
t  Coolant temperature transmitter -G62- = faulty current track or component with fault
t  Very high signal = text indicating the type of fault
t  Sporadic fault = the fault does not always appear, for example: a loose contact
