Connecting VAS 5051 and selecting functions
Connecting -VAS 5051- and selecting functions
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051-
   
t  Diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/1- or -VAS 5051/3-
  WARNING
t  During a road test, you must always secure testing and measuring equipment on the back seat.
t  While the vehicle is moving this equipment must be operated by a second person; NOT by the driver.
–  Connect connector of diagnosis cable -VAS 5051/1- or -VAS 5051/3- to diagnostic connection.

–  Switch on the tester -arrow-.
The tester is ready for operation when the selector buttons for the operating modes appear on the screen.
–  switch ignition on.
–  Touch the Guided Fault Finding button on the display screen.
–  Select the following:
t  Brand
t  Model
t  Model year
t  Variant
t  Engine identification symbols
–  Confirm the data entered.
Wait until the tester has interrogated all the control units in the vehicle.
–  Press the button Go to and select the „Select Function/ Component“ function.
–  Select „Running gear“ on the display.
–  Select „Brake system“ on the display.
–  Select „01 - Self-diagnosis compatible systems ...“ shown on the display.
Either:
–  Select „Antilock braking system ...“ shown on the display.
Or:
–  Select „Electromechanical parking brake“ on display.
–  Select „Function“ on the display.
You will now see displayed all possible functions for the anti-lock brake system installed in the vehicle.
–  Select the function you require on the display.
