Hand brake cable: removal and installation
Hand brake cable: removal and installation
Removal
–  Remove hand brake lever cover → Chapter
–  Let off hand brake.
   
–  Loosen readjusting nut -arrow- sufficiently to disconnect the hand brake cable from the expansion tab.
–  Raise the vehicle.
–  Remove wheel.
–  Remove the brake drum.
–  Disconnect hand brake cable.

–  Remove hand brake cable from support -arrow-.
  E46-0027
–  Remove hand brake cable fixing clamp -arrow 1-.
–  Remove hand brake cable from guide channel -arrow 2- and from guide channel -arrow 3-.
Installation
–  Introduce hand brake cable into guide channel -arrow 2- and guide channel -arrow 3-.
–  Install hand brake cable fixing clamp -arrow -.
–  Connect hand brake cable to brake lever.
–  Installing the brake drum.

–  Connect hand brake cable to its support in the body of rear axle -arrow-.
–  Connect hand brake cable the expansion tab.
  E46-0027
–  Pretension the cable using the adjusting nuts -arrow-.
–  Adjust hand brake → Chapter
–  Fit hand brake lever cover.
