Tyre pressure monitor (TPM+) |
The TPM and TPM+ measuring systems are indirect measuring systems. The wheels are equipped with an electronic circuit. The tyre pressure monitor uses information from the ABS sensors to compare the rolling circumference and the vibration of the individual wheels. Any changes on one or more wheels are indicated on the dash panel display. If only one tyre is affected, the tyre position is indicated. |
The tyre pressure monitor is fitted with an independent controller for detecting the slow and creeping loss of tyre pressure at a wheel position. Using the signals from the ABS sensors, the RKA+ compares the revolutions and thus the rolling circumference of the individual wheels. The tyre pressure warning lamp in the instrument cluster lights up if the rolling circumference of one of the wheels changes. The rolling circumference of the tyre may change if: |
t
| If the tyre pressure is too low. |
t
| If the tyre is damaged. |
t
| the wheels have been changed and the new tyre pressures not saved. |
t
| If the vehicle is loaded unevenly. |
t
| If the wheels of one axle are subjected to a greater load (e.g. when pulling a trailer or when driving uphill and downhill). |
t
| When driving with snow-tyres. |
t
| When driving with the temporary spare wheel. |
t
| one wheel on each axle has been changed (including when wheels have been swapped from front to rear or vice versa). |
t
| the left and right wheels are run on different surfaces for a sustained period of time. |
