| The semi-automatic gearbox 02E is also known as the dual clutch gearbox. Engine torque is transmitted to the gearbox through the dual-mass flywheel. The gearbox has the same structure as a manual 6-speed gearbox. The gearbox functions as an automatic gearbox through the alternating hydraulic control of the wet multi-disc clutches, that is, the gears engage automatically, or manually in Tiptronic mode. | Safety functions of the gearbox control unit |
| If one or more components or sensors stop working, the gearbox control unit activates the corresponding replacement functions or the relevant emergency programmes. This ensures the continued working of the gearbox without risk of damage, nor of repercussions to the working and quality of the gear shifts. | The position of the selector lever is no longer transmitted to the gearbox mechanically through the selector lever cable and the multifunction switch (gearspeed sensor), as is the case with the automatic gearbox. The positions of the selector lever or the gear shifts are sent to the gearbox control unit using its own control unit located in the gear selection mechanism, through the CAN bus. That is, the gears are changed without using a lever cable. Only when the selector lever is in “P” does the parking block engage mechanically using the selector lever cable. |

| When shifting up or down, the gearshifts are automatically selected using the possible range of gear shifts according to the position of the accelerator pedal and the speed of travel. |
