Electronic vehicle anti-theft system 06.00 ▸
Electronic vehicle anti-theft system 06.00 ►
All radios are equipped with a convenience electronic anti-theft system, which works in conjunction with the dash panel inserts.
Vehicles 06.00 ► with a “BETA” radio have a convenience electronic anti-theft system, which works in conjunction with the respective dash panel insert.
After disconnecting the radio voltage supply, the radio operation is restored when reconnecting the voltage supply without entering the code number. The prerequisites are that initial activation of the electronic anti-theft system has been performed and the radio is reconnected in the same vehicle.
The electronic anti-theft system is activated and locks the radio unit as soon as
t  the radio unit is installed in another vehicle,
t  the dash panel insert is changed.
A radio unit which has been locked by the electronic anti-theft system is shown when “SAFE” and “1000” appear in the display when switching the unit on.
To deactivate this lock, deactivate the electronic anti-theft system → Chapter.
Functional notes:
After the initial activation of the electronic anti-theft system a number code is stored to the radio unit and the vehicle dash panel insert. If the radio is now no longer supplied with voltage when working on the vehicle (i.e. due to removal of the radio unit or battery), data exchange between the radio unit and dash panel insert occurs following reconnection to the voltage supply.
Now the internal number codes for the radio unit and the dash panel insert are compared. If the codes are identical, the dash panel insert recognises that the connected radio unit belongs to this vehicle, and the radio is operational immediately without entering the anti-theft code again.
If the radio is exchanged, the anti-theft code must be entered again.
Deactivating electronic anti-theft system → Chapter.
After switching on the “S contact” via the ignition/starter switch, comparison between the dash panel insert and radio unit is then started immediately.
The comparison takes approx. 5 seconds. During this period no diagnosis unit may be connected or connected into the system.
Then, after connecting the voltage supply and switching on the unit, this radio unit is operational in this vehicle without entering the anti-theft code again.
