Fault table for the radio system

Fault table for the radio system
Notes:
t  There follows a list, by order of the 5 figure fault codes, all of the possible faults that may be detected by the radio system and printed with the -V.A.G 1551-.
t  The fault code only appears on the printed copy.
t  Before replacing components detected as being faulty “defective”, the cables and connectors to the components in question must be checked, as well as the ground connections, by following the electrical diagrams.
t  After the repair has been carried out, a further enquiry must be made and the fault memory of the -V.A.G 1551- must be cleared.
t  All static and sporadic faults are stored in the memory.
t  A fault is detected as static if it appears for 2 seconds at least. If after this time the fault disappears, it becomes sporadic and an “SP” appears on the right of the display.
t  After turning on the ignition, all of the faults recorded appear as sporadic and only after checking are fault memorised as static.
A sporadic fault is erased if it does not remain in force for 50 driving cycles (ignition on for 5 minutes at least: speed > 30 Km/h).

t  Break in cable.
t  Aerial cable broken.

–  Find fault on electrical diagram → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
–  Check the aerial cable.

1)  Only for aerials with remote supply; the fault is maintained with the radio on. In the opposite case, after turning on the radio, the supply is connected briefly to carry out the test (the test can only be carried out if the variant is installed).
