Note It is essential to be familiar with the operation and handling of the parking aid system when resolving customer complaints. |
In the up!, a parking aid (PDC = Park Distance Control) with 3 ultrasonic sensors (parking aid sensors) is built into the rear bumper cover. |
The parking aid system monitors the area at the rear of the vehicle by means of the ultrasonic sensors in the rear bumper. Acoustic distance warnings are provided by a warning buzzer inside the vehicle. Depending on the equipment, additional distance information from the optical parking system (OPS) is displayed on the screen of the portable navigation unit. |
The parking aid system helps the driver to manoeuvre and park the vehicle. If the rear of the vehicle approaches an obstacle, an intermittent warning tone is emitted. The smaller the distance becomes, the shorter the intervals become. If the obstacle is very near, a continuous warning tone is emitted. The parking aid system switches itself on/off automatically when reverse gear is selected/deselected. |
The parking aid system consists of: |
t
| Parking aid control unit -J446- |
t
| Rear parking aid warning buzzer -H15- |
t
| Rear left parking aid sender -G203- |
t
| Rear parking aid sender in middle -G796- |
t
| Rear right parking aid sender -G206- |
Fault detection and fault display: |
The parking aid system is equipped with self-diagnosis, which makes fault finding easier. |
For fault finding, use the operating mode „Guided fault finding“ on vehicle diagnosis tester -VAS -. |
To check the parking aid system as a whole, perform final control diagnosis. |
