Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Wrench kit 17 mm -T10395-, see equivalent → Anchor

t  Torque wrench -VAG 1331-, see equivalent → Anchor.
t  Removing → Anchor
t  Fitting → Anchor

Removing
–  Detach the connector -2- of the exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495-.
  N26-10416
–  Remove sender 3 for exhaust gas temperature sender -G495--item 1- with 17 mm wrench -T10395/6-.
  Note
Disregard -item 2, 3-.
Fitting
l  Specified torque: 45 Nm.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
  Note
t  Apply hot bolt paste to the thread of the temperature sender → Spare parts catalogue.
t  Fit cable ties in the original positions when installing.

Location of the exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495--Pos. 1-:
l  Angled end to left-hand side of vehicle.
l  Angle -α- with regard to marking -arrow- = approx. 17°.
  WARNING
The torque wrench -VAG 1331- must be set to 29 Nm in this case.
The correct tightening torque of 45 Nm is achieved by using the extension of the torque wrench -VAG 1331- with the 17 mm wrench -T10395/6-.

–  Screw exhaust temperature sender 3 -G495- in by hand.
–  Then tighten to the specified tightening torque using the torque wrench -VAG 1331- and the 17 mm wrench -T10395/6-.
