Camshaft oil seal: Replace. t  Removing → Anchor t  Installing → Anchor Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Guide sleeve -10 203-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Hose clamp -T10051-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Extractor -T10052A-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Extractor -T20143-

t	Push rod -T40064/1-, see equivalent → Anchor

t	Bolt M12x65

Removing l  Cylinder head installed.

–  Detach the outer -1- and inner -2- engine covers, by pulling them evenly upwards. –  Remove timing belt → Chapter.

–  Extract the counterhold -3359-. –  Unscrew the bolts -arrows- of the camshaft hub. –  Pull camshaft sprocket off hub.

–  Loosen the securing bolt -1- of the hub, use the counterhold -T10051- . –  Loosen by 2 turns the attachment bolt of the hub.

–  Fit the extraction tool -T10052A- and line up with the openings of the hub and screw down the bolts -1- . –  Hold the hexagonal (e/c 30) of the extraction tool -T10052A- and tighten the bolt -2- evenly until the hub comes away from the camshaft cone. –  Remove the hub cone from the camshaft.

–  Insert the extractor -T20143- and extract the corresponding camshaft seal, supply or exhaust -1-. –  Clean contact surface and sealing surface. Installing Fit in reverse order from removal, remembering the following:   Note The sealing lip of the seal must not be oiled or greased. –  Use clean cloth to wipe off oil residue at crankshaft journal. –  Tape off groove on taper of the camshaft with adhesive tape.

–  Carefully position oil seal on camshaft. –  Press the sealing ring in until the end using the thrust pad of the guide sleeve -10 203- and the bolt M12 x 65.

–  Fit the camshaft hub. –  Tighten securing bolt -1- to 100 Nm (use counter holder -T10051-).

–  Slide the camshaft sprocket onto the hub. l  The cogged part -arrow- of the camshaft cogwheel should face upwards. –  Align the camshaft wheel to the centre position in the stripped holes. –  Screw in the bolts -1- without tightening. –  Immobilise the hub using the retention tool -3359-. –  Fitting notched belt → Chapter. Tightening torque
