  Note
t  After every brake pad change, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary, so that brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
t  To extract the brake liquid from the tank, use the brake bleeder -SAT 1175B-
t  Before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose, fit brake pedal depressor -V.A.G 1869/2- (when doing this, release pressure in system).
   
1 - Brake disc
q   Thickness: 22 mm
q   Wear limit: 19 mm
q   Always replace by axles
q   To remove it, unscrew the brake callipers beforehand
q   Do not use force to separate the brake from the wheel stock, use deoxidant if necessary, as the brake disc could be damaged.
q   Clean and grease the contact surface between the wheel hub and the brake disc. De-grease and clean the brake discs when fitting.
2 - Bolt.
q   4 Nm
3 - Brake pads
q   Thickness: 14 mm
q   Check the thickness → Booklet
q   Do not unscrew hose when replacing brake pads
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Always replace all the pads on the same axle
4 - Brake caliper
q   Do not unscrew hose when replacing brake pads
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Remove the brake pads → Chapter.
5 - Guide pin
q   30 Nm
6 - Protective cap
q   Remove
7 - Retaining clip
8 - Brake hose with hose connection and hollow bolt
q   Tightening torque for bolt: 35 Nm
q   Do not dismantle, replace complete
q   Do not unscrew to change the brake pads
9 - Wheel hub with wheel bearing
q   Sensor ring integrated into the wheel bearing
q   Replace after each removal, as it is destroyed on removal
q   Removing and installing: → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr. 40
q   Allocation: → Parts catalogue
10 - Bolt.
q   12 Nm
11 - Cover plate
12 - Wheel bearing housing
13 - ABS rev. sensor
q   Before fitting the sender, clean the inner surface of the hole and apply solid lubricant paste according to the → Parts catalogue.
14 - Bolt.
q   8 Nm
q   For ABS revolution sensor
