Removing and installing pistons for front brake calliper > < Brake caliper FN 3: assembly overview

  Note
t  When repairing, fit the whole repair unit.
t  To clean the brake pads only methylated spirits may be used.
t  Apply a thin coating of assembly paste (assignment → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA)) to the brake cylinder, pistons and seals.
1  - Brake carrier
q   Tighten with the brake calliper housing
2  - Guide pin, 30 Nm
3  - Cover caps
q   Insert into sleeve bearing.
4  - Protective cap
q   Fit it over the bleed valve
5  - Air drain plug, 15 Nm
q   Before tightening, apply a fine layer of assembly paste to the screw thread → Parts catalogue
6  - Sleeve bearing
q   Fit into the brake calliper housing
7  - Housing for brake calliper
8  - Retaining spring
q   Note the correct fitting position
q   Engage onto both brake calliper housing studs and onto outer pad retaining spring.
9  - Protective cap
q   Pull on so that outer sealing lip goes over piston.
q   Take care not to damage when inserting piston.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
10  - Piston
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Apply a thin coating of assembly paste to the piston → Parts catalogue
11  - Sealing ring
q   Take care not to damage when inserting piston.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
