Bleed brake system (vehicles with and without ABS) |
Note! To bleed brake system use filling and bleeding tool -SAT 1150-. |
Particularities of vehicles with ABS |
In the case that one of the brake fluid circulation deposit chambers is found to be completely empty (e.g. a leak had occured in the brake system), the bleeding of the hydraulic unit should be carried out from the function “basic setting” and with fault reader: → VAS 5051. |
Caution On refilling brake fluid with filling/bleeding equipment, e.g. -SAT 1150-, make sure the filling pressure in no greater than 1 bar. |
|
If the pressure is greater than 1 bar, there will be no guarantee that the system has been properly bled. |
–
| Select function “Start basic adjustment”. (ABS ITT Mark 20 IE): → VAS 5051. |
–
| Select function “Start basic adjustment”. (ABS ITT Mark 30 IE): → VAS 5051. |
Note! t
| In vehicles with ABS, the bleeding of the brakes is carried out in the same way as vehicles with a conventional braking system. |
t
| In vehicles without ABS with braking force regulator, the regulator lever has to be moved during the bleeding of the rear brake. |
t
| Only use new brake fluid Ref. no. B 000 700 A . (indicate, at the position of the full stop, the capacity of the container) |
t
| Brake fluid is toxic. Further, due to its corrosive characteristics on paintwork, it should not come into contact with any paintwork. |
t
| Brake liquid is hygroscopic , this means that it absorbs humidity from the air, for this reason it should always be kept in sealed hermetic containers. |
t
| Clean any spilled brake fluid with large amounts of water. |
