Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Tightening plate -40 - 105-
t  Pressure plate -3074-
t  Assembly tool -3253-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
t  Engine elevator -V.A.G 1383 A- with Universal support set for spare parts -V.A.G 1359/2-
t  -3-Extractor -Kukko 204/2-

   
1 - Wheel bolt
q   Modified wheel bolt → Chapter
2 - Wheel bolt
q   Modified wheel bolt → Chapter
3 - Allen screw, 10 Nm
4 - Brake disc
5 - Hexagonal bolt
q   Replace after each removal
Tightening torque for 4WD vehicles:
q   150 Nm, and turn a further 90°
q   For 4WD vehicles, it must only be loosened or tightened with the vehicle resting on its wheels (risk of accident)
6 - Washer
7 - Wheel hub
q   Removing → Fig.
q   Remove the inner ring of the bearing → Fig.
q   Fitting → Fig.
q   Remove and fit with -V.A.G 1459 B- → Chapter
8 - Circlip
q   Ensure that it is correctly seated
9 - Wheel bearing
q   Removing → Fig.
q   Replace, they break when removed
q   Fitting → Fig.
q   Remove and fit with -V.A.G 1459 B- → Chapter
10 - Hexagonal bolt, 10 Nm
11 - Cover plate
12 - Tensor washer with rotor
q   Only for front-wheel drive vehicles
13 - Hexagonal self-locking nut, 200 Nm
q   Replace
14 - Driveshaft
q   Removing and fitting → Chapter
15 - Swinging arm
16 - ABS rev. sensor
q   Before inserting the sensor, clean the inner surface of the hole and apply solid lubricant paste -G 000 650-
17 - Allen screw, 10 Nm
18 - Hexagonal bolt
q   → Brake systems; Repair Group 46; Rear disc brake: repairing
19 - Elastic hook
20 - Brake calliper

   
Remove the wheel hub from the swinging arm
  Note
Place the elevator -V.A.G 1383/A- below (risk of accident due to falling parts when removing the wheel hub).

–  Remove the securing ring from the wheel bearing.

Remove the wheel bearing from the swinging arm
  Note
t  Place the elevator -V.A.G 1383/A- below (risk of accident due to falling parts when removing the wheel hub).
t  The pressure plate -3074- forms part of the equipment group A-2, and is therefore not available at all workshops. If required, it may be ordered from Matra.

Remove the inner ring of the bearing from the wheel hub
Only use an extractor with tensor plate -A-, for example -Kukko 204-2- (standard).
  V40-1218
Fit the wheel bearing onto the swinging arm
–  Lubricate the hole for the wheel bearing with Molykote grease.
–  Fit the wheel bearing all the way.
–  Fit the securing ring with long nose pliers.

Insert the wheel hub
–  Fit the wheel hub all the way.

  Note
The pressure plate -3074- forms part of the equipment group A-2, and is therefore not available at all workshops. If required, it may be ordered from Matra.
