Remove the wheel hub > < Rear wheel bearing assembly: repairing

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Tightening plate -40 - 105-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
t  Engine elevator -V.A.G 1383 A- with Universal support set for spare parts -V.A.G 1359/2-
t  Pressure tool -VAS 6016-
t  -3-Extractor -Kukko 204/2-

   
t  Pedal pump with high-pressure hose -V.A.G 1389 A/1-
If your workshop is equipped with the manual pump -V.A.G 1389/1-, it can be converted into a pedal pump.
To do so, the kit -V.A.G 1389/3- must be used.

Four wheel drive vehicles
–  First remove the driveshaft.
Driveshaft: removing and fitting → Chapter.
Continues for all vehicles
–  Remove the wheel and raise the vehicle.
Front-wheel drive vehicles
–  Loosen the bolted union which fastens the wheel bearing.
Continues for all vehicles
–  Remove the ABS revolution sensor from the steering knuckle.

–  Remove the clip -1-.
–  Push the brake lever -2- in the direction of the arrow, and release the hand brake cable -3-.
–  Remove the brake support and clip, and hang on the bodywork using a wire.

–  Release the brake piping from the swinging arm -arrows-.
–  Dismantle brake disc.
–  Loosen the cover plate, and move it aside.
  Note
Do not bend the brake piping when removing the cover plate!
–  Tie the cover plate to the swinging arm.
  Note
Place the engine elevator -V.A.G 1383/A- below (risk of accident due to falling parts when extracting the wheel hub and wheel bearing).
