Beginning from the 2000 models modified alternators are installed with differences in shape and also in the designation of the connection terminals.
The exterior differences to date between the new compact alternators compared to the previous ones are the following:
t  Modified voltage regulator
t  Oval shaped housing with a round joint for the double connector, compared to the polygon shaped double connector which was used until now
t  Modified designation of the connection terminals → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
Attachment of cable B+ to the alternator
  Note!
t  The fixation of the + cable of the alternator is labelled B1+.
t  If cable B1+ is not tightened using the torque indicated, the following may occur:
–  The battery will not be fully charged.
–  Total malfunction of the electrical system and electronics of the vehicle (car immobilized).
–  Fire hazard due to sparks.
