Adapting fuel gauge > < Adapting total distance travelled

Checking fuel gauge (adaption)

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Hand multimeter -V.A.G 1526- or hand multimeter -V.A.G 1526 A-

t	Fuel extraction unit -V.A.G 1433 A-

If the fuel gauge displays the contents of the fuel tank too high or too low the fuel gauge needle position in the dash panel insert can be corrected (adapted).

Before doing this perform the following checks:

–	Perform final control diagnosis for the dash panel insert → Chapter.

Check function of fuel gauge sender if final control diagnosis does not display a fault:

–	Check resistance value of fuel gauge sender → Chapter.
