Radio equipment
General information
  WARNING
Disconnect the battery earth strap before carrying out any work on the electrical system.
  Note
If the battery is reconnected, check the vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric comfort system, etc.), following the instructions in the Workshop Manual and/or the Operating Instructions.
This chapter contains information about the following radio equipment:
   
t  LENA with radio/cassette → Chapter

t  ALANA - Radio/CD and MP3 (from 04/2003) → Chapter

t  Low Dynamic Radio Navigation System (RNS) → Chapter

In vehicles with radio and navigation system, the radio functions are controlled with the radio and navigation system.
  Note
t  Knowledge of the operation and handling of the radio system is indispensable when facing customer complaints.
t  All radio units are equipped with anti-theft code protection. The anti-theft code system has a fixed code → Instruction Manual.
t  Additional Information, → Additional Information, Electrical system.
t  Only SEAT radio units and adaptation parts should be used, since only they guarantee optimum reception and fitting without problems.
t  In case of repair work or fault finding → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
t  Detailed fitting instructions, for example for the removal and fitting of trim → Bodywork, interior fitting work; Rep. Gr.70.
Explanatory notes for the outer radio equipment:
t  In versions pre-equipped for radio the terminal connectors are already planned for the Original SEAT radio units.
t  Radio units with different connectors have to be connected with adaptor cables.
t  There must be no short circuits when connecting the speed signal (in radios with Gala function) because this may lead to faulty functions in the vehicle (e.g. in the engine control).
t  Also the connector of the speed signal to radios of other brands may lead to vehicle faults.
t  In fitting the Kit, follow the instructions contained in the kit box.
–  for CD CHANGER
–  for rear speakers in two-door vehicles
–  for rear speakers in four-door vehicles
–  installation of navigation system
For fault finding, self-diagnosis must be carried out → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
