Setting, removing and installing the brake light switch -F-
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Polycarbamide grease -G 052 142 A2-
  Note
The brake light switch must be removed for setting.
–  Remove the storage area on the driver's side → Body Work → Rep. gr.70.
–  Unplug connector from brake light switch.
For vehicles up to 07.01
   
–  Turn brake light switch -1- 90° to the left and remove from bracket -2-.
  Note
t  Carry out assembly of the brake light switch after clipping the brake pedal with the brake servo unit → Chapter.
t  Grease all bearing points and contact surface of the brake light switch tappet before assembly with polycarbamide grease -G 052 142 A2-.
–  To adjust, pull out the plunger of the brake light switch as far as the stop.
–  Press down brake pedal as far as possible by hand.
–  Guide the brake light switch through the assembly opening and install again by turning 90° to the right.
–  Release brake pedal.
For vehicles from 08.01
  S45-0062
–  Turn brake light switch -1- 45° to the left and remove from bracket -2-.
  Note
t  The brake light switch may only be installed once to ensure that it has an adequately tight fit.
t  Carry out assembly of the brake light switch after clipping the brake pedal with the brake servo unit → Chapter.
t  Grease all bearing points and contact surface of the brake light switch tappet before assembly with polycarbamide grease -G 052 142 A2-.
–  Guide the brake light switch through in the assembly opening and install by turning it 45° to the right.
Pull the brake light switch tappet out completely up to its stop before assembly since it will be automatically adjusted and set during assembly.
Brake pedal always remains in the off position in this case (not actuated).
–  After installing the brake light switch, check whether brake pedal is in the end position (release position).
Continued for all vehicles
–  Mount plug on brake light switch.
–  Inspecting operation of the brake light switch BOSCH 5.7 → Chapter BOSCH 8.0 → Chapter
   Actuate brake pedal ⇒ all the brake lights must light up.
   Release brake pedal ⇒ all the brake lights must go out.
–  Install the storage area on the driver's side → Body Work → Rep. gr.70.
