Installing the engine > < Removing engine

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Lifting device -MP 9-201 (2024 A)-
t  Engine mount -MP 1-202-
t  Adapter -MP 1-202/10-
t  Bushing -T 30010 (VW 540/1B)-
t  Assembly stand -MP 9-101-
t  Workshop crane, e.g. -VAS 6100-
To perform the assembly work the engine must be secured to the assembly stand -MP 9-101-.
  Note
When measuring the cylinder bore ( → Chapter) the engine must not be fixed to the assembly stand.
Work procedure
l  Separate engine from gearbox.
   
–  Attach lifting device -MP 9-201 (2024A)- at engine and at workshop crane (e.g. -VAS 6100-).
Belt pulley side: 2nd hole of the extension in Position 1.
Flywheel side: 4th hole of the extension in Position 8.
  Caution
Use securing pins on the hooks and rig pins to prevent release.

–  For carrying out assembly work, attach the engine with the engine mount -MP 1-202-, the adapter -MP 1-202/10- and the sleeve -T30010 (VW 540/1B)- to the assembly stand -MP 9-101-. (The figure shows the 1.9ltr./47kW SDI Engine; the fixing system is identical).
