Testing Intake manifold flap motor -V157-
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552-
t  Diagnostic cable -V.A.G 1551/3-
t  Hand multimeter (e.g. -V.A.G 1526 A-)
t  Adapter cable set (e.g. -V.A.G 1594 A-)
t  Test box -V.A.G 1598/31-
Test conditions
   
l  Fuse No. 24 OK
l  Diesel direct injection system relay -J322 - O.K., testing → Chapter
l  Battery voltage min. 11 V
Check for proper operation
–  The functional test of the Intake manifold flap motor -V157- occurs in the final control diagnosis → Chapter.
Test control
–  Switch off the ignition.
  S01-0094
–  Disconnect the plug from the Intake manifold flap motor -V157-.
–  Switch on the ignition.
–  Measure the voltage supply of the Intake manifold flap motor on contact 4 of the plug and on the vehicle mass, subsequently on contacts 4 and 1 of the plug.
   Specified value: approx. battery voltage
If the specified values are not reached:
–  Switch off the ignition.
–  Connect the test box -V.A.G 1598/31 - to the wiring loom on the engine control unit → Chapter.

–  Check the following wires for interruption or short-circuit to earth or positive:
  S23-0100
4-pin plug on wiring loom, contactTest box -V.A.G 1598/31-, bush

–  Also test the wires for short-circuits.
If no fault is found:
–  Replace the Diesel direct injection system control unit -J248- → Chapter.
