Test conditions

Battery voltage 11.5 V
Test sequence
–
Unplug 3-pin connector

from camshaft position sensor
-2-

Connect handheld multimeter for voltage measurement to contacts 1 + 3 of connector

.
–
Switch on ignition.
Specified value: at least 4.5 V
–
Switch off ignition.
–
Test cables for open circuit, short circuit to earth and to positive
→ Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
If the wiring is in proper order and the desired voltage was measured at contacts 1 + 3
–
Replace camshaft position sensor -G163-.
If the wiring is in proper order and the desired voltage was not measured at contacts 1 + 3
–
Replacing engine control unit
