  Note
To remove the input shaft, first remove the planetary gear up to the large sun gear after removing the torque converter housing → Chapter.

2 - Adjusting washer
q   Determine thickness → Chapter
3 - Outer ring/tapered-roller bearing
q   removing → Fig.
q   installing → Fig.
4 - Inner ring/tapered-roller bearing
q   remove → Fig.
q   pressing on → Fig.
5 - Drive pinion
q   No. of teeth → Chapter
q   adjust → Chapter
6 - Parking position gear
7 - Output gear
q   No. of teeth → Chapter
q   pressing off → Fig.
q   pressing on → Fig.
8 - 145 Nm
q   always replace
q   loosen and tighten → Fig.
q   secure → Fig.
9 - Inner ring/tapered-roller bearing
q   remove → Fig.
q   pressing on → Fig.
10 - Outer ring/tapered-roller bearing

Remove outer ring/tapered-roller bearing from torque converter housing
A - Countersupport, e.g. -Kukko 22/2-
B - Interior extractor 46...58 mm, e.g. -Kukko 21/7-

A - Countersupport, e.g. -Kukko 22/2-
B - Interior extractor 46...58 mm, e.g. -Kukko 21/7-

Press outer ring/tapered-roller bearing into the gearbox housing
–  Support the gearbox housing with pressure plate -MP 3-4014 -, directly under the bearing support as shown in the Fig.

Loosen and tighten hexagon nut
–  Secure input shaft near the parking position gear in a vice fitted with protective jaws -A-.
–  Open catches on the nut ⇒ -arrows- in Fig. N39-0458 → Fig.
B - Torque wrench (40...200 Nm), e.g. -V.A.G 1332-

Secure hexagon nut
–  Secure the collar of the hexagon nut with drift in the recessed slots of the input shaft -arrows-.
