Removing and installing, testing coolant thermostat

Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Pliers for spring strap clamps
  Note
Always replace seals and gasket rings.
Removing
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
   
–  Detach coolant hose from connection fitting -3-.
–  Release bolts -4- with hinged wrench, remove connection fitting with „O“-ring -2- and thermostat -1-.
Testing coolant thermostat
–  Heat up regulator in a water bath.

approx. 87 °Capprox. 102°C → Remarkmin. 7 mm

1)  Cannot be tested.
Install
–  Clean sealing surface for „O“-ring.
–  Insert coolant thermostat.
   Fitting position:The clamp of the coolant thermostat must be positioned vertically.
–  Moisten new „O“-ring with coolant additive.
–  Tighten screws to 15 Nm.
–  Top up coolant → Chapter.
